Pictures are floating to the top of the web of a modified 2008 Nissan GT-R, that could be the mule of a V-Spec or Group N variant. GTR-Forums.com is running a series of pics captured at a NISMO event of a GT-R with a modified front end (no grill insert) and check out the inside of the A-piller. Fancy rollcage, or lightened structure? You decide. Keep in mind, we don't know if there even is a lighter and meaner V-spec/Group N package in the works. This could turn out to be the luckiest drift king in Japan (Godzilla went on sale there December 6, pics are from earlier) taking a pre-order GT-R on it's first track day. Nissan has presented this strange official teaser shot of what is believed to be the new 370Z - the replacement for today's hairy-chested sports coupe, the 350Z. This unusual shot of a (rather vague) vehicle silhouette reveals more about the wheels and arches than any overall impression of the design, but styling chief Shiro Nakamura said we'd be seeing this vehicle later this year. Which is exactly when we're expecting the new 370Z.

It's slated to be four inches shorter than today's coupe, which ties in with the truncated test hack we spotted on development duty last year (second picture above). And - you guessed it - the engine capacity jumps from 3.5 to 3.7, using the same engine as seen in the Infiniti G37.

This unusual teaser was shown at the Nissan 360 - a media event held every four years to give journalists a deep-dive look into the company's global activities. The US group went first this time, and this shot of the 370Z (or whatever else it might be) was taken by our friends over at Autoblog.

TOKYO (Jan. 8, 2009) — Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a new limited-production Nissan GT-R SpecV model, which goes on sale at seven specially selected Nissan dealers throughout Japan on February 2, 2009. The GT-R SpecV is targeted specifically at enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle.

Developed around the multi-dimensional Nissan GT-R sports car, introduced just more than one year ago to universal global acclaim, the new SpecV model builds on the original's "ultimate supercar that anyone can enjoy driving anywhere, at anytime" philosophy - taking it to an entirely new level of "oneness between man and machine." The SpecV model includes unique body, interior and performance equipment and modifications, raising the GT-R's unmatched performance to even higher levels.

The GT-R SpecV's new exterior features include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a carbon fiber grille, and carbon fiber brake ducts. The SpecV is available exclusively in Ultimate Black Opal (RP) body color. Inside, the SpecV's unique two-seat interior (non-SpecV GT-R models also include a two-place rear seat) offers special Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats, while carbon fiber insets embellish the rear center storage box, instrument panel and other trim areas.

Performance is enhanced with a new high gear boost control device, which momentarily increases boost of the engine's twin turbochargers for greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges to provide a more powerful feeling of acceleration, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy. Other modifications include a titanium-coated exhaust system and carbon-ceramic brakes that provide powerful stopping performance.

The GT-R SpecV is also equipped with lightweight, racing-style forged aluminum wheels that were developed for this model and have been sold by Nissan Motorsports International (NISMO) since September 2008. The lighter unsprung weight provided by the new wheels, together with the enhanced braking capability, an exclusive suspension and high-grip tires, combine to deliver the SpecV's exceptional performance.

The 2009 Nissan GT-R has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)* of $69,850 for the GT-R and $71,900 for the GT-R Premium model. Destination & Handling (D&H) is $1,000. The GT-R is available only through officially certified Nissan dealers that have met a number of strict sales, service and facilities commitments, including dedicating a master technician to GT-R service. A 2009 Nissan GT-R, equipped with a standard 480-horsepower, twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine and advanced 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, recently set a lap time of 7 minutes 29 seconds at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the fastest times achieved by a production-spec vehicle to date.

About the 2009 Nissan GT-R

The Lexus LF line is a series of concept cars built by Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of Toyota Motor Corporation. The "LF" line utilizes L-finesse, a specific design direction by Lexus. The design language of L-finesse was first introduced on the LF Series concepts and has now extended to all new vehicles in the Lexus lineup. The LF Series vehicles include three coupes/convertibles: the LF-A, the LF-A Roadster, and the LF-C; two sedans: the LF-S and LF-Sh; and two crossover SUVs: the LF-X and LF-Xh. These vehicles feature new design cues which derive from the L-finesse philosophy of "Intriguing Elegance" (純), "Incisive Simplicity" (妙), and "Seamless Anticipation" (予). New vehicle technologies include advanced instrumentation, multiple driver-selected vehicle configurations, hybrid and experimental powertrains, and unconventional driver interface designs. The first concept vehicle of the LF Series, the LF-X, appeared in 2003. Several of the LF concept vehicles have appeared close to their production counterparts, while the design cues of other LF concepts appeared on more distinctly different production vehicles.
