I'm also a Feb 06 applicant.
Lets have a race and c who gets it first...jus kiddin...:)
When did u mail ur application?
The slowness in the approval rate has me a little worried. In July many people got approved at within the first few days - that does not seem to have happened for the first 3 days of August so far. I'm hoping that this is just a blip and the trend picks up shortly.

I wouldn't pass such judgement on immigration-law.com. They've acknowledged the mistake. It's not like no one makes any mistakes, it's how they acknowledge and move forward.
Immigration-law.com has made many many many mistakes especially considering the fact that they are lawyers. Lawyers by profession hardly ever make statements, since their profession is to make sure what they state is 100% accurate. They are more like a news sensation organization, so please there is no need to defend them. But people like us that includes me want this thing to work so bad that we go to their website for our vested interest and to give us some hope. They are more like a blog than a legal web-site.

Last name (surname) was missing in my daughter's original passport and also same is missing again at renewal.
Can anybody advise the best course to rectify this?. Any guidance in this regard will be appreciated.

Kudh Kare tho balaa ; hum kare tho balaathkaar is what somebody who recently got his/her gc told me - was hard to digest, but true...
"Real", "Worked hard", "law abiding" - done my masters and PhD - I know how people get through. Waa re waa - demanding "justice" - you are just plain jealous of other smart people. Guess its time somebody told you, just because you have a MS or a PhD doesn't make you smarter by default. Even if it did, doesn't mean you get everything first - teenagers behave better than that :) Time to grow up
You mean to say your friend who recently got his GC knew "for sure" every GC holder faked the system to get one and rather than following the law he decided to join them. Does your friend know something called "ethics"? you friend is a pathetic loser.
I have another project for you and your friend - since you guys know how people "get through" MS & PhD, why not do that too and prove you "balaa".

With this attitude and arrogance, I rarely think there would be motivation for anyone to do anything for IV.
....
Please read my initial post before commenting. I always said, I am for IV cause. just convince me so that I can convince some one
Gisa pita dialogue,...dont ask what IV has done,, ask yourself what you have done... COMMON

No one is going to waste time in convincing you. If you are not convinced but you think green card is an important issue, then start your own organization, spend your money, provide customer service and convince others, like the way you want others to convince you. Maybe you will do a better job.
The $1/bill in Indian restaurant is the most foolish of all the ideas. Indian restaurants don't let waiters/servers take $1 tip, you think you can let them raise $1 for you? A great soul said - Be the change you want to see in the world. Why don't you start your organization and do the things you are telling others to do for you? That way you will not have to read this forum or reply to posts you don't seem to like.

The USCIS will send you a summons for your fingerprints. You will have to go to wherever they mandate. The fingerprints only have a fifteen month validity.
The medical exams are usually a two day event. One day to do the exams and then they write up the report when they get your blood work results from the lab.
While you are waiting you can work on developing the patience of Job.

Finally got approved today. Here is the sequence
1. Went to field office last week to check everything is in order for approval. Got the shocking news that no address is on file and most likely my case will be abandoned. (This happened in 2001 and this is my 3rd labor). I detailed in this (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum5-all-other-green-card-issues/1599300-action-item-for-i485-transferred-case-members.html) thread
2. Called USCIS yesterday twice after noticing last update date, the rep told me my case was approved a year ago and I should file I-90. A total mess again. I called again and opened up a Service Request despite of them telling me the case was approved a year ago.
3. Went to field office again this morning, was told case under review (9.45 AM)
4. Came to office checked the case status now - Approved!
Long journey after 10 years and 3 labor application :)
My strong advice is stay on top of the case. If your PD is current, try this, create SR or contact local congressmen

Attended 2010 event.
Plan to attend 2011 advocacy event.
This was in 2007, there is no rally in 2011 (just powerful advocacy from grassroots), but every thing in here holds true today too.....
by chanduv23
Subject: A peaceful rally at Washington DC by Highly Skilled Workers
Immigration Voice (ImmigrationVoice.org - Home (http://www.immigrationvoice.org)) is a non profit
grassroots advocacy group working to alleviate the issues of Highly
Skilled Foreign Workers who are stuck in the Employment Based Green
Card Process stuck in Bureaucratic Logjams.
Immigration Voice is conducting a peaceful rally in Washington DC on
September 18th, 2007 (Tuesday).
You can/must participate in the rally if
(1) You are in various stages of the Green Card Process
(2) Belong to a retrogressed group
(3) Highly Skilled worker (Physicians, Engineers on H1B visa, J1
Waiver, L1 etc) and planning to apply/already applied for a Green
Card
(4) If your families are divided by backlogs and retrogression.
Thousands of families are being potentially torn apart due to their
kids aging out. These children are victims of something they have no
control over and they are constantly forgotten.
(5) Current students studying in various universities (from other
countries) but will be applying for Green Card soon or later
(6) If you already have a Green Card or a Citizen, you can provide
support and encouragement
Please make it a point to attend the rally. Please invite your
friends, relatives, co-workers and colleagues to the Rally. Please
spread this message through mailing lists, media contacts, Orkut and
other social networking media. If you are students, please send this
email to various student organizations. If you work for companies,
please send this message to managers, co-workers, employers etc.
If you are not already a member at Immigration Voice, please become a
member today. It is easy and free!
Please follow this link for more details on the Rally

A lot of people may be wondering why should we even bother about this.
Some FAQs
(1) What's all this? Immigration Voice? Rally? Why should I care?
A. There is a political angle to issues that we are all facing. The
system was designed long time back and has not been flexible and with
the actual demand more than the capacity it is in a messed up state.
No one has made attempts to fix the mess and vote bank politics are
creating further mess.
(2) Why no one talks about these things?
a. The nature of this issue is very complex. Unless one falls into
this pit, the nature of this issue cannot be understood
b. A lot of people do not want to handle the truth and reality
c. Perception - without looking at the real picture, lot of people
assume things are fine
(3) Why should I take these issues seriously, my lawyer will take care
of these?
a. Immigration lawyers assist and handle the paperwork, this mess is
beyond their control or scope or even the scope of USCIS and related
government agencies
b. Immigration lawyers are your service providers and you are their
client, they will talk only business to you, there is no need for them
to explain to you the mess you are in
(4) After the July visa bulletin fiasco, I did submit my 485 petition,
and I will get an EAD/AP so why must I bother?
a. EAD/AP were designed to be interim benefits (only for few months
until someone can get a Green Card), their usage has limitations and
will lead to further issues
b. Severe retrogression will hit in coming fiscal years. India, China,
Mexico, Philippines, Eb3, and eb2, and ROW eb3 will all be affected,
c. Anti immigration lobby is targeting H1b tech workers, at the same
time a lot of lobbying organizations are working hard to make the
system unworkable for e.g.. Durbin Grassley amendments may appear
anytime
d. Until you get a Green Card in Hand, EAD is not the best viable
alternative for work and AP is definitely not the best travel
document.
(5) Why Immigration Voice? What is the agenda?
a. Immigration Voice is the only grassroots organization working hard
on these issues
b. Immigration Voice's earlier campaigns were a huge success and sent strong signals to government agencies and law makers
So why not start working on helping yourself and helping your fellow
immigrants?
Please spread the message, and take active interest in the event.

As another member said, please display the list of all members who paid.
Also, to all the registered members in IV, why dont we send an email as a gentle reminder?
The email can also include the list of members who donated/pledged to attend the event. That might motivate others to contribute atleast financially?

I called 4 member, the person at frontdesk didn't transfer me anywhere. Also, they knew why I am calling and they remember all three Bill Numbers by heart now.
When I said Can I leave the message then I was told we got your message Sir, and I will pass on the message to Senator.
The frontdesk staff is instructed not to transfer our calls to the right person in their office. So after calling 4 members, I stopped.
Thanks.

Guys, Please do not ridicule saralayar. he has raised a very valid point. We are so involved with the GC issue that we are not able to think beyond that. I do agree with the fact that IV is so preoccupoed with GC crisis that there is no point (or bandwidth) to raise citizenship issue. I have seen so many of my friends who came with me in US 8 years ago and are citizens by now but I am still struggling with GC with no hope in site. Sometime, I think, by the time, I will get GC (if I), they will become sr citizen :) it feels very bad but cant help it.
Funny:D:D:D
Somebody was asking that the retirement age be lowered. Gosh! and retire immediately on becoming a citizen?

Maybe my case is an exception and it might give hope to others. I got my PERM labor certified recently after being audited. It took 215 days from the day of filing to approval day. I'm in EB2 category.
Don't lose hope as there is no apparent rationale behind DOL's approval.
Hallo Geevikram, can you give a bit more details.
1) LC filing date
2) Date it was put to audit
3) reason shown on audit (what was audit for / documents asked etc)
4) when was it approved.

S for senate
HR for House Resolution
SA for Senate Amendment to a Senate bill
--- don't know Amendment for a HR
May be a dumb question.. how is HR.2 different from S.2? What is approved today is S.2. I thought HR is house of represenatives. But again SA is a senate amendment. So I am confused!

( I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine, who was more than happy to go to Las Vegas very frequently and lose 100$ than contributing time or money to IV.)
I was running some numbers...
There are close to 400,000 pending applicants.
Out of 400000, maybe 300,000 are from seriously backlogged regions? (India, China etc..)
Out of 300000, maybe 150,000 are from India.
Out of 150000, maybe 80,000 are primary applicants (Not counting dependents).
Out of 80,000, maybe 30,000 are waiting endlessly with no hope around the corner...
(I don't have the below exact numbers..but)
Out of 30,000, we have hardly 50 members attending the DC advocacy event?
If these 30,000 members, on an average had contributed 10$ ( 3 gallons of gas or Half the weekend pizza/family outing bill), wouldn't we have reached 300,000 $?
Now comparing these numbers with recent demonstrations around the country in support of DREAM Act, I would say there is a difference of Apple and Orange. Remember, there were students who were undocumented/out of status, risking deportation participated and contributed for the DREAM Act. Having said that, may be we need to pushed to the limits before we ALL take some action.
Given this lazy attitude of IV audience, I really commend the efforts of Anu and other IV core team for their efforts. If I were in their position, I would have given up long time back.
