Hello.. I have been communicating with the Texas Chapter leaders per the post listing all the contacts..
I was able to speak with a couple of you over the past few weeks..
I have been writing to the Senators, Congressman and Congresswomen in our area about the NNCP and Employment based immigration delays..
It is good to have a coordinated effort. I am ok if there are only 7 - 10 people to kick start this. That is a good start for a leadership team.
Lets plan on a follow up meeting over the next few weeks.. Remember folks, some of our representatives are scheduled for elections soon.. Lets figure out how we can support the right candidates for highlighting our cause.
Lets meet and come up with an action plan..

I talked to an officer at the IRS as soon as I received my SSN and he told me it is NOT compulsory to report it to them becos when I do use my SSN if I get a job..the info will automatically go to them.
Did you talk to him of the scenario if you don't use the new SSN for a job?

So then we are DEFINITELY sure that we can invoke AC-21 based on the receipt date of July 2nd and NOT the actual notice date of August for most of us?

At this current 'infinite wait for GC' situations, how good to be in full time positions. consider following.

For instance, got I140 filed (EB3), 5 th year of H1B, Company is doing well.
will file 3 year extension at the end of 6 th year. Seems ok, will wait for my turn for that visa numbers become current.
What happens when the things changed the way you haven't expected. Like

Company slips into losses and is ready to cut some jobs. You are in 6th year for H1B. No time to jump to another job and get labor filed to show 365 days gap for yearly extensions. Also HR dept go by books, will cancel your H1b and I140 on layoff.
a) What are the chances left for above scenario(Other than go back to India)
like file another labor/I140 same time as future employee for backup.
b) I feel working for a recruiting(preferably desi)company where no cancellations of H1 or I140 happen, seems to be a good idea.

my thoughts are .... don't you guys think this might send a wrong message to American public and law makers that we are trying to become citizens via this rally...but all we are asking them to do is to bring in relief to the broken immigration system...

Thx. Yes per the recent information I collected both from IRS website and a free consultation with a CPA, ITIN application must be filed along with the paper tax return.
I like "...going to the IRS local office option..." suggested above.I am in NC and my wife has been here since July 2010.
I totally forgot about the State tax part.... I don't know if they will accept the return without ITIN. (And I don't think I have enough time for Fed return with ITIN to be accepted/processed and then apply for state return).
One of the CPA's I spoke to wanted $200 + 75(for ITIN). I figured that's too high for a simple return with no home mortgage etc.

Is it possible to atleast get some kind of stamp from the Indian consulate providing authenticity to your damaged passport copies? Something like a notarized thing - but from the consulate.

I would agree with idea of dressing professionally. We need not carry laptops and stuff like that but a neat formal dress would send out a clearer and bolder message about skilled immigrants.
We are a small crowd ( legal immigrants) we have to differentiate ourselves, the least we can do is dress formally. Formal dress, an organized and well behaved crowd will garner lot of attention (the right kind) and serve the purpose (of the rally).

3) how long is the process at POE? What line do you stand in?
I was lucky and all (including the secondary inspection) was done in less than 15 minutes.
However much will depend upon the number of people ahead of you in the queue, specially in secondary inspection. At times they take 15-30 minutes to deal with single case in secondary inspection and if many people are ahead of you then your wait time will increase :-(
Please provide your recent experiences since we all hear about not great experiences lately....so wondering what it's like.

I travel a fair amount - but haven't encountered this problem so far. I am not sure what the reasoning behind this is - your attorney should be able to clarify. Is there an alternative? Can one get by with one's passport?

My employer is a small consulting agency approx 50-75 consultants. I received information that they have been chosen for a DOL audit- I am not aware of any more details other than that.
I am EB2 India July 2nd filer and I already have received my EAD, AP and am done with my FP.I want to know if this can have any adverse impact on my GC process.
I plan to use AC21 to move into a bigger org after Jan. Please let me know in case you have any info on the above. Also once I use AC21 and move to a diff org does my GC process have anything to do with my current employer?

Do not switch employer before audit is over. Under PERM rules, an approved LC can be revoked within one year. If your LC is revoked, you lose your I140 and I485 as well. AC21 is not going to save you here.

I am starting this thread to discuss why/why not USA need Illegal immigrants more than Legal immigtants. I want to see why one group should be favored over the other group from an American prespective.
Some of my observations:
Illegals are seen as
Law breakers, Will do the dirty work that americans will not do, will work for less than minimum wage, exploited, harassed, 12 million in number and so need support.
Legals are seen as
Take away american jobs, make more money than illegals, will bring down white collar wages down and so on and do not need support.
The above sentiments may drive what is happening in the Congress.
Your Comments? Observations?

My lawyer send my wife application to VSC?
My file is at TSC?
I am in a kind of fix because she is confident that my spouses application at VSC will be routed to TSC. the only problem is that i am not confident knowing USCIS?
What are my options?
I am thinking of seinding another application for spouse to TSC and if receipted both would withdraw one.
Can some explain?

My brother came to US on H1 on 22nd Sep and applied for SSN in first week of October. Its been almost 3 weeks and so far he has not received his SSN number. When he contacted the SSN department, they told him that his Immigration Info (i believe its entered at Port of Entry Information which is EWR - Newark Liberty Intl. Airport in his case) is not yet updated. All they (SSN dept) gave him was a letter stating they received the application and have to wait.
He has an assignment/project waiting/starting next week but cannot work without the SSN (need to complete background check and drug test as per the client policy). His employer he trying get some info on how to expedite this case but so far he could not help him much.
Usually people get their SSN within two weeks. His friend who landed at the same airport two days after him, got his SSN a week back. Has anyone faced similar situation, if so, please let me know if he can do anything to expedite the process. Is there a way one can contact the Immigration Dept or any Dept which can verify his information and update the same so that he can get a SSN.

I think, waiting is the only remedy which I know. You already contacted SSN office and get reply as well. As far as work is concerned, many companies allow person to work when they produce the copy of the receipt of SSN application (Given by SS department).
