Crystal Mountain, WA– July 4, 2011 will be the second time in Crystal Mountain history that skiers and snowboarders will be able to celebrate Independence Day on snow. The Mt. Rainier Gondola and Green Valley will be open for skiing July 2-4.
Over 600 inches of snow has fallen since Crystal opened November 19, 2010, breaking the previous snowfall record of 598 inches. Set in 1999, that record season was the only other time the slopes were open on July 4.
Lift tickets for skiing are reduced to $35. The base area will host a barbecue and live music. Crystal plans on being open the following weekend, July 9 and 10, but operations later into July are still to be determined.
Crystal Mountain is now open daily for scenic gondola rides, mountaintop dining and sightseeing. Guided horseback tours begin July 2.
