I got a NOF in February 2006. They also asked about my experience before the advertisement was ran. Fortunately, my former boss and professor managed to produced strong reference letters detailing my experience for the job advertised.
My advice to you is ask your professor to detail as much information tailored to your requirement like Java and etc. At this point, there is not much you could do except rely on your former professor that gave you the teaching assistantship. Ask him/her to attach his credentials as well. You could also enclose some professional IT/Programming journals that back your credentials in terms of experience.
As of now, I am still waiting. Will keep you posted when I hear from Philly. Good luck....!

Your L1 status gets automatically changed to H1 if you continue to stay in US past Oct 1st.....But if you go out of the country and enter on L1 again, it over writes your H1 status.....Its the I-94 which dictates the status and not the visa stamp....Note that, when you want to change to H1, you will have to exit US, get H1 visa stamped and enter on H1 (I-94 should indicate H1 status)...What USCIS did when it approved your L1 to H1 Change of Status is that, it changed your current L1 I-94 to H1 starting Oct 1st...So to overwrite that, you need to exit and enter so you will get a new I-94 with L1 status and later H1 status when you enter again after getting H1 stamp...Hope this makes sense...

It is surprising that in spite of detailed posts by more experienced members, folks are making the same mistakes again and again when it comes to meeting lawmakers and presenting our case.
Firstly, kudos to thoes who have taken the step of scheduling meetings with lawmakers but then after going to such a meeting it is important that we speak purely about legal immigration policy and not about how we are superior than the others! No lawmaker will view us favorably and accept our provisions when we present it in such a manner and then we come back and complain about how a certain lawmaker is an enemy of our provisions.
I do not believe that we can label either Democrats OR Republicans in one broad stroke as anti-anything. The views and policies vary from one lawmaker to another and from time to time..which is why it is important that our members across the country meet with THEIR respective lawmaker to find out what the individual stance is. We are all frustrated but that does not mean we dilute our own efforts and dig a grave for ourselves in that frustration.

A Sr. Programmer, however, gets paid only about 120k at this time. AC21 will not help because USCIS will not accept the argument that he has the intent to leave the 300k job to take the 120k job.
Obviously the above is specific to my and my employers specific situation. The specifics may be very different for another employer.

Just make sure you have your documents in order (assuming you already know which :-)) and you shouldn't have any issues. It is all they ask for and after that it is your luck and the IO's mood. Don't be nervous when answering questions.
I have done this three times in Mumbai and no issues at all. Most recent in Nov. 2008. I had an Indian-American IO who started talking to me about Hindu traditions...weird :D

ah ha.. Got used one way, and it is nice to keep reading things and getting to know problems that are creating day by day.
I must say I passed this stage and got GC last May after multiple followups with local congress man office, sending signature confirmation letters to MANY !!
Green is not the main thing.. we Need RED and BLUE also, only one primary color ( US GC ) does not help in life... :-)

Just take the Original Approved EAD Notice to SS department and fill up the forms. They will give it to you. I did it for my son last year who was 9 years and got his SS card with in 10 days.
You can not apply on line as they need to verify the original approved EAD notice.

I have had Lingo since 2005 and have never faced any issues with it. Call quality has always been excellent and although their CS used to be pretty horrible, of late it has definitely improved.
I was on the Unlimited USA/Canada plan till late last year when I heard about Unlimited Asia for 29.95 w 2.9c/min to India. I switched over then and they credited the plan change fee of 9.99. Couple of months ago when they launched the Hello World plan for 21.95 w the same 2.9c/min to India I called and switched over and there were no issues. I did have to call once again to get the Plan change fee of 9.99 credited since I think their software applies it automatically but I didnt have any issues.
2 days ago I called to switch over to the Unlimited Plan and it was done, no issues. I probably will have to call after next month's invoice to get the Plan change fee credited.
Overall no issues. Ping me if you need a referral.
Can you answer "tempgc" question that calling from cell phone is allowed by using Lingo account? are you doing it right now? if yes did you see any call quality difference from cell phone to calling from lingo phone directly?

second lay off bump up to EB-2,
third lay off, further bump up to EB-1/NIW (National Interest Waiver)
Fourth layoff, move the case under under religious quota (4 lay offs would certainly give you that)
Fifth lay off - waiver of green card, eligible to apply for citizenship.
9 years and counting............

Hello can you please tell me how long it took for you labor to clear from the time they advertised on job bank and what sort of recruitment was done by your company. Do you have to advertise on the days the DOL states.
Advertisement for my job was done in 2003 in the pre-PERM days, not on the Job Bank. As far as I could recall, it was done in Information Week for a weekend, few job sites, local company posting and local news papers.

Can we slightly modify the content a bit, it sounds like most of us started as EB3 and then converted into EB2, which is not the case with everyone. For example, I am EB2 and I haven’t changed from EB3, so the context is not applicable to me.
We should emphasize that in view of sever retrogression, most of the applications should be processed and approved before September 30th as per the August visa bulletin and NO VISA’s should be wasted at any given circumstances.
Could you please update it and post the letter?

Generally majority of Illegal immigrants and their supporters will vote for democratic party. So democratic party is trying to pass Dream Bill. But majority of high skilled generally vote for Republicans and when republicans takes over Senate and House with Wide margin then EB reform will be introduced and passed.
At this stage bi partisan immigration bill will cover high skilled immigrants also. Employment situation need to be improved and some compromise bill is needed for passage. There are more important work for congress than spending time to give 500K new green cards.
The approach by IV and other for adding the Visa recapture is correct. Even more money is spent or more numbers are there it will have same result unless some variables change.
Now most congressmen will ask What is the need for Visa Capture or Eb reform now when unemployment is close to 10%. Economy will not have any impact as no one is in a situation to leave the country as you can indefinitely extend your H1b. You can be in decent job and buy a home. Only issue is there are some inconveniences. But what is the problem for country? Even a few thousand leave the country because of this 85k new H1bs added and about 100k new L1s are coming and 140K GCs are issued every year. Apart from there is unlimited potential of outsourcing.
Politically and in number game High skilled are very weak now. So it is a smart move to try to attach with other bills
Why should they not do as much for us? We are all potential voters ;)

I've been using AP for travel for the past 3.5 years (since Aug 2007).
Mostly this has been for business travel to China/Japan/India/HK (about 4 to 6 times a year), totalling about 14 or 16 times.
In one particularly busy travel year, my AP was stamped on both sides (8 stamps!).
There is no rule that says that AP cannot be used more than once unless otherwise noted on the AP. Read the text in the AP - if it says "This authorization is valid for multiple applications for parole into the United States during the validity of the period noted above", then you are OK to travel multiple times using the AP.
