Mine and my wife's case was approved today - I had applied on Feb 10, 2011. Just got the text mesg.
My daughter's case was also filed on the same day, but still pending...
E-filed at Texas, followed instructions and provided all the documents listed in IV - Wiki tab for AP application
It appears they are approving within the 90 days mentioned on their processing times.

this bill is not yet dead guys. Dont think Kennedy and friends are going to give up on a potential 20million vote bank so easily. this will be back... Also, the final vote was apparently 46-50. So in the course of a few hours more than a dozen senators changed their vote! This can only be more encouraging for supporters of the bill, they are almost there...

Yes, get a good lawyer. Get a second opinion as its very much possible that your current lawyer might have screwed it up and dont expect him to fess up his mishandling if there was any.
Firstly you need another lawyer to give you a second opinion, secondly you need another lawyer to find out if your current lawyer has screwed up anything so far.
Since you are well-rooted in this country with car, mortgage, school-going child, you should really dont hesitate to spend 200-300 dollars on new advice from a lawyer who knows what he is doing. Forums are only going to help you ask to right questions...to a certain extent.
You cannot rely on forums advice here from people who are really computer programmers and not immigration lawyers to decide on this important step in your career.

thanks Deep2000 for the information.
one of my friends is a researcher with a certain very common bacteria and was asked to wait 2 months before he got clearance for stamping. this happened a few years back. so apparently India is also one of the countries? one of my friends said that it is better to have letters from your supervisor or somebody really in charge that your activities are not at all in a sensitive area or that you do not handle biohazardous materials etc.

I filed my wife H-4 extension with me, does that means she must go with me? or I can go first, once get visa stamp, come back, then she goes.
I still don't understand why H-1 & H-4 extension approved without new I-94 attached. What was the reason INS wants to do so?
Any new suggestion?

Lets start new year and new congress and new prez. This is new development from immigration-law.com
Line-Up of House Leaders for 111th Congress With Power to Impact Immigration Legislations
Election of Majority and Minority Leaders:
Majority Leader: Representative Steny H. Hoyer
Minority Leader: Representative John A. Boehner
Election of Majority and Minority Whips: Majority Whip: Representative James E. Clyburn
Minority Whip: Representative Eric Cantor
Election of Chairmen of Key Immigration-Related Standing Committees:
Committee on Education and Labor: Representative George Miller (CA)
Committee on Homeland Security: Representative Thompson (MS
Committee on the Judiciary: Representative Conyers
Committee on Oversight and Government Reform: Representative Towns
Committee on Science and Technology: Representative Gordon (TN)
Also S-9 was introduced yesterday with floor speech.
S. 9 Bill Text:
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Stronger Economy, Stronger Borders Act of 2009''.
SEC. 2. SENSE OF CONGRESS.
It is the sense of Congress that Congress should enact, and the President should sign, legislation to strengthen the economy, recognize the heritage of the United States as a nation of immigrants, and amend the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 et seq.) by--
(1) providing more effective border and employment enforcement;
(2) preventing illegal immigration; and
(3) reforming and rationalizing avenues for legal immigration.
Senator Leahy Supporting Statement on the Senate Floor: .
Mr. Presdient, as we begin the 111th Congress, we will try, once again, to enact comprehensive immigration reforms that have eluded us in the past several years. With an administration that understands the critical necessity of meaningful reform and that understands the policy failures of the last 8 years, I am hopeful that the new Congress can finally enact legislation consistent with our history as a nation of immigrants. The majority leader has included immigration reform as among the legislative priorities for the new Congress. I look forward to working with him, Senator Kennedy, Senator McCain, and others interested in working toward the goal of immigration reform.
In 2006 and 2007, Congress attempted to pass practical and effective reforms to our immigration system. In 2006, the Senate did its part and passed legislation, only to be thwarted by those in the House of Representatives who opposed dealing with the issue in a meaningful way. In 2007, the House passed legislation only to have it blocked in the Senate by Republican Members opposed to effective reform. If our immigration policies are to be effective and play a role in restoring America's image around the world, we must reject the failed policies of the last 8 years. We cannot continue to deny asylum seekers because they have been forced at the point of a gun to provide assistance to those engaged in terrorist acts. We cannot continue to label as terrorist organizations those who have stood by the United States in armed conflict. We must not tolerate the tragic and needless death of a person in our custody for lack of basic medical care. We must ensure that children are not needlessly separated from their parents and that family unity is respected. We must move beyond the current policy that is focused on detaining and deporting those undocumented workers who have been abused and exploited by American employers but does nothing to change an environment that remains ripe for these abuses. We must protect the rights and opportunities of American workers and, at the same time, ensure that our Nation's farmers and employers have the help they need. We should improve the opportunities and make more efficient the processes for those who seek to come to America with the goal of becoming new Americans, whether to invest in our communities and create jobs, to be reunited with loved ones, or to seek freedom and opportunity and a better life. We must also live up to the goal of family reunification in our immigration policy and join at least 19 other nations that provide immigration equality to same-sex partners of different nationalities. And I believe we would be wise to reconsider the effectiveness and cost of a wall along our southern border, which has adversely affected the fragile environment and vibrant cross-border culture of an entire region. Such a wall stands as a symbol of fear and intolerance. This is not what America is about and we can do better. Those who oppose a realistic solution to address the estimated millions of people currently living and working in the United States without proper documentation have offered no alternative solution other than harsh penalties and more enforcement. The policies of the last 8 years, which have served only to appease the most extreme ideologues, must be replaced with sensible solutions. I am confident that our country and our economy will be far more secure when those who are currently living in the shadows of our society are recognized and provided the means to become lawful residents, if not a path to citizenship. As President-elect Obama's administration considers immigration issues, I look forward to working closely with them and with the Senate's leadership to find the best solutions. President-elect Obama's nominees to lead the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Labor understand very well the importance of sensible border policies and the importance of workers' rights. The American people look to all of us to forge a consensus for immigration reform that rejects the extreme ideology that has attended this issue and prevented real progress.

Can find the link for sending the webfax. Anyone can help? I have a couple of guys here who want to do it
All,
We need to get started right away on sending webfax #16 to oppose Bingaman Amendments S.A. 4181 and S.A. 4182.
In brief:
These amendments say that quota for primary EB applicants + spouses and children cannot exceed 650,000.
In all USCIS and other policy calculations the standard family size is about 2.2. The Bingaman amendments would be fine only if standard family size is 1.4.
In effect the Bingaman amendment once again includes dependents in the calculation of the EB quota.
We need to get the word out before the Senate votes on these amendments! There is no time to waste.
Thanks,
Berkeleybee

What do you mean by "Masters in 8 years of starting my job"?
What is the minimum qualification required for the position now?
Hi
Your help on the matter is appreciated. I am EB3-I. I filed for I-485 in July-07. I have been working on H1. Now I am going to switch to EAD by AC21. My new job has same job title and job duties. They have another condition for job. I will have to have a Masters in 8 years of starting my job.Their basic requirement is still Bachelors but Masters condition is kind of extra condition. My question is does this give me any trouble for my GC process because of Masters condition.Another question is will I be able to switch to EB2 based on this.

The red dots don't matter. It's the comments that matters.
I been an IV supporter for long. This matters to all of us. Is that one who gave me red dots the real "admin"? If that's the case, then it means he will give our IP address to USCIS for posting these comments.
Maybe Pappu or other admins can clarify this.
a long time IV supporter. Please do not hesitate to provide your opinion here. Some people will like your opinion and approve it via a green and some will dislike it with a red. There is freedom of speech here on the IV forums, as long as a poster sticks to High Skilled Legal Immigration and issues associated.
There are tons of anonymous posters who are timid and like mischief. And then there are some who create false ids and write rubbish to IV members.

Just now I finished calling and talking to the U.S. Sen. John Cornyn office. his help there was very helpful and appreciated my calling to his office. He further said that when Sen. John Cornyn introduced this bill, at that time many opponents of this bill used to call and they had to be educated to know the value of the skilled ones....plus he further said that if many calls come favoring this bill then certainly Sen. John Cornyn will feel enogh motivated to bring this bill up again in Jan 2007.

USCIS calculates 1 (or 2) years from the EAD approval date. If you apply early and thereby get approved sooner, you risk loosing 1 or 2 or 3 months, if you apply late, you risk having voids in your employment (unless you're not using EAD).

Story to learn - if someone send u on B1 or even H1b ( first time entry fellow ) .MAKE SURE THAT :
<> There is a POC at the Client site who knows the legal ramifications of what he says.
<> U insist , even at the cost of loosing face in ur company that U TALK TO THE POC AT THE CLIENT END AND MAKE SURE HE UNDERSTANDS WHAT IS TO BE VERIFIED AND CONFIRMS HIS UNDERSTANDING.
I was with a very well known BPO . I came back from US hoping to work in India and they sent me back on B1. It was actually B1 in lieu of H1 and not B1 plain but the IO was NOT aware of what B1 in Lieu of h1 is and gave me 3 month stamp. I made SURE I TALK TO SOME ONE @ the client site and get a reliable Point of Contact

IMO, Everyone should do whatever he/she feels right without waiting for others. Others will automatically join in if they feel it's worth it.
If you are going to post, write a covering letter providing your full history send it in a big box with copy of all your documents (sensitive info blacked out) by 'Registered Post' or with Tracking number/Signature, so you know who got it. You can use it in future correspondences/reminders ( several needed to get any response - my experience)
Best of luck
