Everyone,
I have beent trying to get in touch with McCain's office but no one there knows where exactly the meeting is. The final word I got is that it is being held in SEIU building in the Avenue of the Americas and that it is at 5 o clock. But I am still not able figure out where that building is.
I have been trying to contact New York Immigration Coalition at 1-800-566-7636 but it only allows phone numbers from New York. Can any one else try that number and get more information about the town hall meeting?
bkam,
You can get McCains contact information at http://mccain.senate.gov/

Yes, get a good lawyer. Get a second opinion as its very much possible that your current lawyer might have screwed it up and dont expect him to fess up his mishandling if there was any.
Firstly you need another lawyer to give you a second opinion, secondly you need another lawyer to find out if your current lawyer has screwed up anything so far.
Since you are well-rooted in this country with car, mortgage, school-going child, you should really dont hesitate to spend 200-300 dollars on new advice from a lawyer who knows what he is doing. Forums are only going to help you ask to right questions...to a certain extent.
You cannot rely on forums advice here from people who are really computer programmers and not immigration lawyers to decide on this important step in your career.

My understanding is when FP is done they take all fingers of one particular hand once and then individual fingers later for the same hand.
The Match (%) is for match between all the fingers taken at once and then individually.
And they need to Match 50-60% or more, and thats why retries are done when Match is not found or is a low percent match. For Fingers that match the prior finger print (for full hand) comes up with Match Found! not an error but indicator for the person doing the FP to move ahead with other fingers.
It has nothing to do with any database at that point of time.
That is absolutely correct.
I went for my second FP today coz they messed up my first FP. The guy this time was MUCH MUCH smarter and explained the process to me. He said that first they take 4 fingers and then individual ones. Each individual one has to "match" the finger print in the four finger combo. This guy was really experienced too. It took him just 2 attempts per finger to get it and said, I my prints were fine and was surprised that the FBI had a problem with them. Hopefully this time it shud be fine.
On a lighter vein. This time everyone there was using "Windex" to clean the fingers and the glass on which the prints are taken. Remined me of the movie "My big fat Greek Wedding" where Windex is used as a cure for everything. Certainly seemed to work for me today (i hope and pray) ;)

How will the officer know that you are out of status. Just by being on bench will not alert the officer that you are on out of status unless the company holding the H1B revokes it. I would not worry too much about it. There might be many ways that you can say that you did not work (leave or maternity off or something else) and still showing as "in status"
Experts any advice??
I have read somewhere in these forums that the officer can ask for my W2 if i have a dependent filing with me. After looking into it, the next thing they could ask could be my spouse's pay stubs which she doesnt have..and to show any leave, we dont have any such official applications...and that company itself doesnt exist any more!!

If any Mistakes on filing.. (Rejected) , can we re-file again with corrected information... that is the question.. please clarify .....thanks
Exactly ...in other words, say on one of the pages a signature is missing. would USCIS reject the whole package ?? if they do reject after aug 18, will they accept the rectified form again ..I would think that they should accept it ...if they dont, then such unlucky souls will be in the dumps for a long long time.

A friend of mine had signed a non compete (with an American company) that prevented him from taking up another job in the SAME CITY!!! He had to move out of there after he quit.
So yes, there can be all kinds of clauses in the non compete.

Your current salary has nothing to do with ability to pay issue. It looks like your company's tax returns was not good enough and uscis sees that company cannot pay what they state in labor.
Open MTR and borrow sometime and meanwhile jump to another company and start fresh. If your I-140 is approved, you will get 3 years extension.
Ok, I made a mistake. Your I-140 is denied and your H1b is going to be over by June 2008.
Open MTR and quickly search for another job.

Yes, you can get in trouble if your GC approved in less than 6 month AND you don't work on sponsoring company after getting ur GC.
few questions?
q?> what happens after 180 days? can employer revoke 140 after 180 days?
q?> what letter or documentation we need to get from the employer after 180 days if he is willing to let us go? since my employer is good dude and told me to get out after 180 days and do what u wanna do in life ahead.
q?> what we need to do after 180 days? if we changes employer?
I mean any forms to fill and whom/what/where to notify?
q?> can we be out of job/vacation/no intent to work for 2-4 months after 180 days?
q?> someone mentioned that u need to be with ur employer otherwise issue when we apply for citiizenship? since the world jobs/companies are chaninging dynamic ..outsourcing..out of bussiness
please clarify thanks!

I have read different opinions, comments and thoughts from several forums pertaining to non-immigrants opening bussiness. Sometimes, I wonder where all these come from. Isn't there an official publication/guideline by the USCIS on this??? Who knows?

If your I-94 expires then your H1 ceases to exist as well and you will have to update I-9 to reflect that you are using EAD. The dependents will have to use AOS status as well and lose H4 status.
One way to extend I-94 is to reenter the country.
second to file for extension using approved I797 (you will not be filing a new I-129 only I-539).
Third contact CBP for correction they might just correct this I-94

You are right. You can file an extension with another company for 3 years. I am no lawyer but I just had this done in December and received approval a few weeks back.
Is it required to proved a copy of the I-140 approval for the H1 transfer? My employer does not provide copy of the I-140 approval. But I do have the LIN#. Would that be sufficient to get the H1 transfer for 3 years?
