I am still waiting for the receipt numbers. I contacted the USCIS toll free number and an IO told me that they are not touching the I140 and I485 concurrently filed applications until August 17th. Is it true?

I have a Question about Canadian Immigration. Kindly let me know if this is not the right forum for that.
I am applying for skilled canadian immigration. I will be the primary applicant.
My question is after getting the immigration if I do not move to canada and my wife moves to canada. will I completely loose the immigration. what is the process then.? Also can my wife retain the immigration ? as she was not the primary applicant.

AFAIK, if any one (spouse) continue to maintain permenent resident status, or becomes citizen, others permenent resident status is granted.
So based on that understanding, if you wife stays for more than 2X365 days in five years, while renewing her permanent resident card, your card will also be renewed.

If we assume for a moment that CIR Fails to pass, the scenario will be interesting as you would have an enforcement only bill in House and possibly one of PACE/TALENT OR SKIL bills for supporting highly skilled legal immigrants. Isn't that just about the right solution? What support would these legal immigration bills get in house?

they are looking out for their kind....many CHC members may know families that are illegal.. you cant change their heart by flowers..it will be a waste of money..and time. (not being pessimistic here..whay do they care for legals...when they can benefit big time by supporting illegals... just think of the political milage they can gather)
like i had mentioned in my earlier posts.. the traffic on this forum has reduced..because most are happy with their EAD's....who needs a GC attitude.
we have to fend for ourselves... maybe we shoudl approach senators of indian origin...;-) ..or pro legal immi groups!
Ok well this discussion is not going anywhere. The whole point of the flowers campaign is to make the CHC realize that they can help the illegals without damaging provisions for legal immigrants right now. The illegals issue will take a LOT more thought than the issues faced by the legals. THAT is the point we are trying to drive home via the flowers campaign.
However if the IV core thinks this is a bad idea, then there is no point in doing this now.
If the flower campaign is getting old, let us do a "Fruits of our Labour" campaign on Labour Day.
On a lighter note:
Now I had suggested the IV DC Rally back in March of 2006 and it was termed by the Core/Legal counsel as a bad idea. Guess what happend after a year and half? The DC rally in Sep 2007. Let's hope the same thing doesnt happen for this flower campaign.

I went with my son and applied for SSN. She saw passport and EAD card and I am told I would receive the card in 2 weeks. No other Qns' asked. will update once I receive the SSN.

I'm not taking any job from other people because this job simple would not exists if I wasn't in this situation.
They are willing to pay a damn high amount on taxes, legal fees and all other kinds of employer crap just to have me there so I don't see how this could be bad for anybody.
If he was single nobody would make one mention about me marrying him and moving. But because he happens to be married already and I am having a relationship with him AND his wife (it's not like we are cheating she wants this as badly as any of us), suddenly now I'm an idiot?

Unfortunately practising polyXXX is illegal in the US. So you (and your partners) will be breaking the law. Normally among natural born US citizens such relationships would not have immigration impact, but the consequences for green card holders or naturalized citizens would depend on whether DHS finds out about it and how much they pursue it.
Anyway talk to a lawyer before you decide what to do.

well, there is always a way, if you want to keep h1 and still work on L1.
You can file an ammendment for your COS. and then you will be issued new H1 without I-94. Right now, your H1 should have a valid I-94.
But then when you want to change to H1, you need to travel back to your country and get stamped.

Does IV has a plan to contact some of the biggies directly and if so, it would be good if IV provided a list of the same here so that duplication doesnt occur. << Please do understand that this is a worst case scenario and I'm prepared for folks jumping on me and providing examples of various efforts where hardly a few did something without recognizing the worst case scenario part - but thats a risk I'm fine with :-) >>

What kinda jobs can we geeks even Do in the army?
Let's not forget most of us are 25+. We are mostly civilians and not people who ever wanted to join the army. Joining ANY army in any country takes pride, passion, dedication and a selflessness to die for the country.
Now if anyone on here is willing to do that, then yes by all means, this is an option to look into. However most of us here are to afraid to even come out and join IV and take a stand. Are we really going to go to the battlefront? :):p
Sorry if i am touchin anyone's nerves, but this thought is REALLY amusing to me :)
Finally some one who will not sell his soul to the devil for a GC.And to add this "pride, passion, dedication and a selflessness to die for the country" usually comes with the deep sense of emotional bonding that is associated with land of birth(hopefully). Yeah I am sure people take a oath to give up all allegiance to our previous country of citizenship, take up arms if necessary and whatever else it takes for citizenship, but at the end of the day we are here for the money and a "better" life, so lets not kid each other by saying that we are prepared to turn in to mercenaries and fight for any thing as long as we get immigration benefit.
