ENVY.
I am starting this thread to discuss why/why not USA need Illegal immigrants more than Legal immigtants. I want to see why one group should be favored over the other group from an American prespective.
Some of my observations:
Illegals are seen as
Law breakers, Will do the dirty work that americans will not do, will work for less than minimum wage, exploited, harassed, 12 million in number and so need support.
Legals are seen as
Take away american jobs, make more money than illegals, will bring down white collar wages down and so on and do not need support.
The above sentiments may drive what is happening in the Congress.
Your Comments? Observations?

We have recently done this thing at New delhi consulate. Took the appointment for English for my parents-in-law and when inside requested one of the girls managing inside for Hindi translation but she said when you go to the window just say that you want to answer in Hindi and the officer will talk to you in hindi and the same thing happened. Officer did ask the questions in hindi. This is our experience not sure if this goes with everybody.

I don't want to discourage anyone by posting this. I want all of you to do a reality check on the rallies you want to organize.
I believe organizers of San Jose rally does not have enough time to do all the stuff they need. If they had another week i am pretty sure thay would have done an amazing job with the count and better media coverage. gsc999 and Frankling will you agree with me?
So please check if you have enough time when you suggest a date for a protest rally. Especially if you are expecting big numbers you have to do a lot of publicity and not only people in this forum but also all other people should know about the rally so that they can participate.
NY rally organizers, i suggest you to pick another date to give yourself enough time.

The lawyer had sent letter on 10/8 (with old i 140, new i 140 with old PD and I 485 receipt) and have opened SR on 10/7....do you think i should do anything more.

No problem. Based on the other cases and my own experience the best way to make interfiling and porting of old priority date is when filing the EB2 I-140. In cases where
the intefiling request was made after the EB2 approval it is taking a bit of time. From what I read it would take about 30 -45 days to complete the interfiling/porting request. If you have already opened an SR. In my opinion waiting for an SR response or waiting about 30 days would be the best. Approaching congressmen etc should be last resort thing..in any case the response for their query wouldn't be that fast. Also, congress will heck busy with
their re-elections..best thing is to wait for 30 days from the date you sent the interfiling request and take an Infopass or talk to CSR level 2 office . Good Luck!

I am a physical therapist. I might be wrong, but as far as i know we dont need to have labor certification unless something's changed. Am i right?

So what i need to do now is and please advice me:\
1. Negotiate with the employer to use premium processing for my H1B transfer
2. Start the Green Card process as soon as possible--like NOW!
One clarification---If the I-140 gets approved...then I can extend my H1B even if im nearing the end of my 6th year---right?
If Physical Therapist occupation is still listed under Schedule A, then you should be able to file for I-140 directly without labor as long as you have an employer willing to sponsor your green card. I heard that PT now requires a masters (depending on when you graduated), but I am not sure if this is completely correct. It would be better for you to do some more research and talk to a good lawyer.

I received my EAD Sept last week. But have not received FP notice. I find that lot of people here receive EAD card along with a FP notice or some people have not received EAD card yet but have received FP notice. Anyone in the same ship as me?? Any thoughts on this !!

I know the answer for second ques, yes you can get benefits for mortgage payments done outside US, talk to your tax rep, i usually go to hnr block and they know how to handle it. Any tax person should know too, as it is very common for folks to show the mortgage payments overseas.
I have tax guy who was from Bangladesh and then I moved to an Indian guy who did taxes for me this year. Both of them told me that I can not benefit by the fact that I am making payments in India for a property I bought............so I would think that the above statement is incorrect.
Gcdreamer05- Can you please tell us what rule/guideline IRS has where we can take advantage of home loan in India? If there is something like that a lot of people will get the advantage.

Can someone who has applied without fees and has gotten approved EAD & AP renewal, second this statement???
fromnaija is 100% correct. my friend had applied for I485 in new fee structure and he also filed EAD renewal without paying any fee and got approval. In fact, I only suggested him to not pay any fee. When he called USCIS, they did not give proper answer. It is very well written in the instruction of EAD form so I suggested him to not pay any fee and file.

Hi Guys,
I think some of the folks seem to agree that this is a good idea but are pessimistic about this becoming reality..I say we should be little more optimistic here..if a congressman thought of having a provision for premium processing for I485 I believe there is hope..I know AILA may not support it but who cares..and why should we care they are here to help us facilitate not to hinder our path to GC..I believe IV foundation it self is based on immigrants trying to help them selves ( .. enough of bhashan) so we should keep this thread alive and ask more people to support this initiative..
